With a classic black 10 cm house number, you give your front door the character of days gone by. The Merum digits have serifs, graceful curls and a mix of thick and thin strokes, like the ones you see on old townhouses and 1930s homes. Matt black makes the shapes easy to see on a light door, white rendered walls, yellow brick and a wooden façade.
The house number looks its best on a home with classic details, such as a panelled door, ornate door fittings or a wrought-iron lamp. But on a simple door frame or garden gate, the digit also gives a well-kept, crafted impression. This way the house number ties in with the details the home already has. It also forms a single whole on a white front door with black fittings.
The digits are made of zinc and have small holes through which you fix them flat to the surface with the supplied screws. On wood you screw straight into the material; on stone, concrete or render you also use wall plugs. Zinc does not rust, so the house number can stay outside all year round. A screwdriver and, for stone, a drill are the only tools you need.
Serifs are the small cross strokes at the ends of letters and digits. They date back to the days of engraved and cast lettering and give a digit a crafted, classic character. You often see them on old townhouses, farmhouses and homes from the 1920s and 1930s. With the Merum, you bring that look to your own front door in a simple way.
You order per digit, from 0 to 9. The 10 cm size is ideal for a door, a door frame or a letterbox. The same classic digits are also available in silver and in bronze.
With small screws through the front of the digit, just like classic house numbers on older homes. The small screws blend nicely into the design.
Wood, stone, render and concrete. On wood you can screw straight in. For stone, concrete and render, you first drill holes and insert wall plugs.
A classic black 10 cm house number looks best on the front door, the door frame, next to the doorbell or on a letterbox. There, 10 cm is easy to read from the pavement. For a façade further from the street, there are also larger house numbers.
Definitely, if you are looking for a warm or rural touch. On a new-build home with a wooden front door or classic outdoor lamp, a classic black 10 cm house number adds character without looking out of place. It looks especially good with a black door handle or outdoor lamp.
Order before 15:00 and your house number will be delivered the next day (within the Netherlands). Shipping within Europe is free. You have 15 days to change your mind and this house number comes with a 1-year warranty.
