Which house number size should you choose?

The right height depends on where the house number goes and how far your façade is from the street. As a rule of thumb:

  • 10 cmFront door, door frame, letterbox or garden gate. Merum and Kemp 10 cm.
  • 12.5–15 cmThe façade next to the front door, for a house close to the pavement. The most popular size.
  • 20 cmA façade with a front garden or driveway, so couriers can read your number from the street.
  • 30 cmA large façade, a corner house or a house further from the road. Wijher and Lerop 30 cm.

In doubt between two sizes? Choose the larger one: from the street a digit looks smaller than when you stand right in front of it.

Stainless steel, aluminium or zinc

All three materials are rust-free and stand up to rain, frost and sun outdoors.

  • Stainless steelSturdy and heavy, with a crisp matt black or brushed finish. Wijher and Lerop.
  • AluminiumLight, 1 cm thick and available in five colours. Kemp.
  • ZincCan be shaped finely, which makes elegant, classic digits possible too. Hattem, Merum and Wieler.

Floating or flat mounting

  • FloatingWith spacers the digit sits about 1 cm from the façade, creating an attractive shadow line. Hattem, Kemp and Wijher.
  • 3D with concealed mountingLerop is 3 cm thick and the fixing is hidden at the back. The installation template helps you place every digit straight.
  • Flat with screwsYou screw Merum and Wieler directly onto a wall, door or wood through small holes in the digit.

House number with a letter or suffix

Do you have a suffix, such as 12A or 4-1? Hattem offers the letters A, B and C, a hyphen and a slash.

Wijher Black 15 and 20 cm and Lerop Black 20 cm have the letters A, B and C in the same style as the digits; on Lerop the letters are 15 cm high.

Frequently asked questions about house numbers

Do I order per digit?

Yes, you order each digit and each letter separately. For house number 12A you choose a 1, a 2 and an A. That way you only pay for what you need.

Are the fixings included?

Yes, each digit comes with what you need to mount it: threaded rods or screws, wall plugs and, where needed, spacers or an installation template.

How quickly will I receive my house number?

Ordered before 3 p.m., delivered tomorrow, and shipping is free across Europe.

Can the house numbers withstand the weather outdoors?

Yes. Stainless steel, aluminium and zinc are rust-free, so your house number stays looking good outdoors. A soft, damp cloth is all you need to keep it clean.

Which house number suits a classic home?

Merum and Wieler have classic digits with elegant curves, in black, silver and bronze. For a modern façade, Wijher, Kemp, Hattem and the 3D digits of Lerop are a great match.
