Gold handles in the kitchen

Gold looks lovely with white, green, blue and wooden kitchen fronts, and with a marble or wooden worktop. Combine it with a gold tap or lights in the same shade and the kitchen forms one whole. On a bathroom cabinet or sideboard, gold is a warm detail too.

Which centre-to-centre size do you need?

The centre-to-centre size is the distance between the centres of the two screw holes. Replacing old handles? Measure the holes in your cabinet door and choose the same size, so you don’t need to drill new holes. For new cabinets, this is a handy rule of thumb:

• 64–96 mmSmall doors and drawers.
• 128–160 mmStandard kitchen cabinets and drawers.
• 192–224 mmTall cabinets and wide drawers.
